Shaping The Sports Industry With Adequate Sports Care Facilities

Looking into the stats about Sports injuries, sports related wounds are more obvious in younger adults and children and it has been found that more than 3.5 million children and teens are injured as part of organized sports or physical activity each year. One of the leading and medically advanced nation United States medical studies conducted in 2016 reveals that more than 8.6 million people, aged between 5 to 24, were reported to have a sports injury.  Being an active and developing stage the researchers have found that males aged between5 to 24 make up more than half of all sports injury episodes. Hand and leg related injury were found up to 30.3 percent whereas the head and neck injuries combine for 16.4 percent of sports injuries.

Sports injuries are one of the most frequent and risky episodes in life and it's all because of different types of sports injuries:

Ankle Sprain: Ligaments that support the ankle can stretch due to certain stress, resulting in an ankle sprain. It may be a small tear in the fiber that comprises the ligament, or the tear may be completely through the ligament. It is a common sports injury in basketball, tennis, football, soccer, and trail running. A quick cut, or the rolling or twisting of the foot, can result in a tear.

Concussion: It is temporary impair how the brain functions and processes information causing a patient to struggle with speech, memory, and balance. Other symptoms include headache, drowsiness, irritability, nausea and vomiting, depression and changes in sleep patterns.

ACL Tear: Injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) are particularly common knee injuries. The ACL travels slanting in the middle of the knee, preventing the tibia from sliding out in front of the femur. ACL damage may be a partial or entire tear of the ligament.

In a grade 2 sprain, the ligament stretches to the point where it becomes loose; this is a partial tear of the ligament. In a grade 3 sprain, a complete tear occurs wherein the ligament has been split into two pieces and the knee joint is unstable.

UCL Tear: The ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) is the most commonly injured ligament for throwing athletes. Baseball pitchers are often treated for injuries to the PCL; other athletes experiencing the same injury include javelin throwers as well as ice hockey, football, racquet sports, and water polo players etc.

Through repetitive throwing motions, the UCL can become stretched, frayed or torn. And years of this practice of throwing hard can initiate a process of microtears, degeneration and finally, rupture of the ligament.

The weakened tendon can rupture completely, causing a “pop” sound and immediate pain. The professional may report that the injury occurred during a single throw, it is often that the ligament ultimately became weak enough to break.

Prevention of Sports Injuries:

The valid way to prevent a sports injury is to warm up properly and stretch. Cold muscles are prone to overstretching and tears. Warm muscles are more flexible. They can absorb quick movements, bends, and jerks, making injury less likely.

Using proper technique or moves during your sport or activity. Different types of exercise require different stances and postures. Plus, have proper equipment like right sportswear and right shoes. Make sure you have the proper athletic protection.

You should remember that you should never overdo any activity. If you do get hurt, make sure you’re healed before you start the activity again. The injury might get worse if not given proper time to heal. Always cool down after your activity. Usually, this involves doing the same stretching and exercises involved in a warmup.

Lastly, always resume your activity slowly, which means don’t be in a hurry to get back immediately after the recovery. Take time to get back to the tracks slowly by baby steps.
